A week to forget for G-Mac in Chicago. It was one of those weeks where it just wasn’t happening, as he finished T52 at +8 (72, 75, 74). Graeme opened with a +1, 72 – his best round of the tournament. Saturday’s card was all pars apart from four bogeys, while Sunday mirrored that pattern, brightened by a birdie on the 18th (his 5th hole of the day). With two LIV events remaining, Graeme will be aiming to recapture the early-season form that saw him shine. Smash GC finished T8 at +1 (–2, +5, –2), delivering good scoring on both Friday and Sunday.
THE COURSE
Located just an hour outside Chicago in one of the great city’s most beautiful suburbs, Bolingbrook Golf Club was the vision of Roger Claar, the former Mayor of Bolingbrook, who wanted to create a new focal point for his community.
The course is elite by any measure, with designer Arthur Hills creating signatures everywhere: the island green par-3, the 600-yard par 5, the lakes shimmering all over the property. But elitist? Definitely not. Green fees are extremely affordable, and there are five sets of tees, so players of all abilities can find the right level of tough.
Bolingbrook opened in 2002 and immediately earned rave reviews, being named one of Golf Magazine’s ‘Top 10 You Can Play.’ And the gold has kept coming ever since: in 2024, it was named one of the top 50 public courses in the country by the Golf Range Association of America.
